MORA CLOCK MECHANISMS
As standard included in the price, we retrofit each clock with a battery electric clock mechanism fitted for convenience. There is no damage caused to the clock by removing the original mechanism which is held in place with a single screw bolt.

We can also fit an electric chiming battery mechanism if you want it to chime the hours - this uses a recording of a real chime. You can choose between a mora clock type bell chime or a westminster chime and it is played back via a small speaker. It sounds great and also has an 8 hour night off switch so you can enjoy a silent nights sleep: +£250.

Your Mora Clock still ships with the original mechanism separately for you to keep if you wish.

We no longer sell our clocks with the working clockwork mechanisms as the original clockwork mechanisms are now just too unreliable. They are not like the precision mechanisms of English clocks of the period being extremely crude and agricultural - they are very difficult to keep running over a period of time and need a professional set up and regular professional oversight - good horologists are very hard to find now, have huge waiting lists and are very expensive to engage.
You will note that clocks with original mechanisms that are sold 'in working order' invariably have a disclaimer that there is no guarantee of continued performance once delivered or something similar so that when they stop (if they start at all) you are left to search for a knowledgable clockman and cover all the attendant costs.
